Hi all! Hope you’re having a great start to your week!

Today I wanted to share an Instagram image & few things from my Sunday!

First, got to workout with my girl Sarah, @lesky27 at her CrossFit gym  – the #WOD was a good one!
She crushed it notice those 10 pull ups x 3? Yes, pull-ups and I have a love-hate relationship.

My ultimate goal is to be able to eventually do strict pull ups without assistance.
I can do
kipping pull ups – only about 3 consecutive.

My goal was to do the workout without a band for as many as I could own my own.
The first round of 10 I did all kipping…not consecutive but did do 10 without a band.
This definitely took a few extra minutes and added to my final time.

For the next two rounds I used a band but did not feel defeated at all.
I know that with each challenge I face- will result in changes!

I push myself to become stronger.
I was one of the last ones to finish but did not let that get to me-
I thought back to those first 10 pull ups that I did on my own
& felt super accomplished. Everyone was cheering for me – something I love about CrossFit.

I do recall Sarah screaming “come on CAKES!” Winking smile

Anyway, my point is, like the #inspirational Joel Harper Fit says,
your competition is NOT always the person next to you!
You are your own competition!
In my head I challenged myself to do as many pull ups as I could without the band for the workout-
and even if that meant dropping to the floor between each 1 & then finishing second to last,
I didn’t feel defeated because I challenged myself & I love the feeling of being in shape! ❤

Hence the bn_shape thermal that I rocked while training clients.
I love being in shape & challenging myself – being the best version of me! ❤

how have you challenged yourself lately?

Speaking of challenges…you are all ROCKING the #plantPOWER Challenge!

Today, “E” is for….
EAT A RAINBOW!

I highly believe in eating as many colors as possible & I talk about it often.
Getting more colors into your diet means you are getting more nutrients & vitamins with each one!
That is why I started making a “Powerbowl A Day” –
it’s a perfect opportunity to get in a bunch of colors in one meal…or bowl! Winking smile

In the bowl above…

  • base of warm kale (with added chopped collard greens)
  • roasted kabocha squash
  • cauliflower
  • roasted red peppers
  • red onion
  • kalamata olives
  • organic dill pickles (don’t know it til’ you try it)
  • green onions

Later topped with my creamy tahini nooch sauce
which if that vinegar is too strong for you, I suggest adding 1 TB vinegar and 2 TB water!

Here is my HOW TO video on making my warmed kale.

As you can see, I try & eat a rainbow every day.
In each meal I get in a “color” to make sure I am getting enough vitamins/minerals every day!

Do you Eat A Rainbow? What’s your “E” today?

  1. Pull ups will get easier the more you do CrossFit but they are definitely still my weakness! I have my kipping pull ups but am so determined to get a strict pull up….someday!

  2. Just finished lunch . . . and I did eat a rainbow! I big salad filled with all sorts of goodies! 🙂 Way to go with the pull-ups! Impressive!

  3. Lindsay says:

LOVE that Joel Haper quote. And eating the rainbow every day is a great goal. It’s tough sometimes, but definitely something to be more mindful of as I’m prepping and cooking my meals.

  4. Janine says:

Eating the rainbow is easy, and tasty!
    R: red bell pepper
    O: carrots!
