Whelp, we’re ENGAGED!!Β Wow, I honestly don’t even know where to begin. Seriously.
This weekend feels like an absolute (wonderful) dream that I’m still living in. I never thought that waking up Friday morning to go sub a Step Class at the gym at 9am would lead to being engaged by 1030am that morning.
I always joked with Corey that he would have to do something goooooood to be able to surprise me since my schedule is so go go go. With the help of my amazing family, they totally pulled it off! I subbed a step class at 9am Friday morning which my Mom came & took. Our “plan” was to do class and then meet a friend for coffee all together. I had clients scheduled the rest of the day & “plans” with my family for halloween that night. Notice all of the “quotation marks” because I came to find – my family can fib really well! ;]
After class, I had a package that I needed help taking to the car so my Mom and I carried it over. My mom looks at me and says, “hey lets go in the side door, I have to grab my purse.” and being that that is a normal entrance, I didn’t think anything of it.
As we turned the corner towards the deck on the side of the gym, I see my sister-in-law Ang go running across the deck and I look the other way and see someone with facial hair smiling. Since I truly had NO idea that I’d be seeing Corey that morning, I thought it was my good friend Trenton who also has dark facial hair & often has meetings at the gym.
I say to my mom, “oh look, Trentons here!” …… (long pause)…… “WAIT (noticing it is Corey as I get closer), what it happeninggggg?!?!?!”
Apparently I repeated “What is happening” about 1000 times.
Corey just stood there smiling as I slowly made my way over since everything truly started to hit me.
I’m pretty sure Corey’s first sentence was, “I love you to death.” Then he got down on one knee and said, “Will you please make me the happiest man alive. Will you marry me?”
We later joked because he said he had a whole speech planned out & it completely went out the window once the moment happened! Which is totally fine because you’re in such a daze that he could’ve told me I smelt like sweat (which I probably did), and I wouldn’t have even realized.
I was blown away with how beautiful the ring is! Can you tell by my reaction?
I’m pretty sure here I said, “I am almost mad at you that you look SO CUTE and I’m a sweaty mess!” Then I realized, honestly, this was perfect.
He joked that he was so pumped that I had a “Rocky” towel around my neck as he proposed since Rocky is one of his favorite movies. When I told my girlfriends how it happened, they all said how awesome it was for him to do it the way he did since it’s right in our element!
After, I made sure to call my girls to let them know & then we thought, what do we do now!? Obviously eating was our next choice! haha
We traveled to a local favorite, Eat N Park, which was ironic because it was where Corey & I had our first date over 2 years ago while still in College! ;]
Even posting this recap now I still feel like I’m telling someone else’s story. It’s amazing how you feel like you’re in a dream! My family & friends helped make the rest of the weekend so memorable by spending time together. We are so thankful!
My Pap is my #1 fan & I knew we’d both get emotional once he walked in.
I then had the honor to pop the question to my sister-in-law, Angie, who said YES to being my Matron of Honor! She is truly amazing & Corey & I are so thankful for the relationship we have with her & my brother, Philip.
Corey even proposed to my 90 year old Aunt Rita! ;] She loves him.
To sum up the weekend, Mamacakes got us a perfect card,
“What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet.”
Thank you everyone for your sweet words over the weekend – they mean so much! I’m so excited to share this journey to marriage with you all!
To Corey, I love you & am so pumped for this journey together. You are amazing & I feel so blessed.
Be true to you,
xo Kasey
