Hey friends! I hope you’re having an awesome start to your week!
I’m still on cloud nine (literally in the air as I type this) from yet another amazing year at the IDEA World Fitness Conference & the second year of BLOGFEST!
I can’t believe how fast this year came back around. I feel like it wasn’t too long ago that I was in Anaheim for the convention last year & then at Fitness Quest 10 shortly after!
Jamie & Elise from Sweat Pink welcoming us.
It’s amazing to see how so many of the bloggers have grown over the last year and also new tips/tricks and workouts from some of the top dogs in our industry.
Insert Todd Durkin here…
When it comes to a Top Dog this man is IT! Not only is he FULL of absolutely energy but he is the first person that would sit & listen to you and hear about your story.
My childhood friend Jesse now works for Todd and these two together are magical.
Side note: Jesse and I grew up friends since our Mom’s were Training Partners in the Industry. They’ve attended IDEA for years and before I got into training – I always heard how great being a part of IDEA truly was.
Jesse now works in San Diego with Todd and I keep swearing that maybe one day San Diego is in my future ;] Spin bikes chill outdoors ALL YEAR LONG!? That’s my dream.
Jesse rocked the stage with Todd for their Energy Explosion Bootcamp & you could just FEEL the energy in the room.
It’s amazing how having a good time, being around some positive people, & fitness can truly make such an impact.
[Thank you Julie for this picture!]
Some other highlights of the weekend included being able to present in front of the amazing blogfest crew! Myself and a few others chatted about Social Media and the power behind them. I focused on Instagram & the importance of remembering WHY you’re doing what you’re doing and not just focusing on the numbers or followers.
Throughout the weekend we we’re showered with snacks – which was awesome!
Truitt Foods makes a great hummus that doesn’t need refrigerated in their small packs so it went great with Late July Chips!
Breakfast one day was a great buffet with cereals & yogurt stations. I topped some plain greek yogurt with almonds, goji berry powder, & cocoa powder.
The weekend was also full of some awesome workouts led by some great instructors!
One of them just so happen to be Gabby Reece..and if you look really close we’re total BFF’s right next to each other in the middle ;]
She not only taught her HighX Training class (kick butt by the way!), but also did a Q & A on her life, training, career, and story.
She is super down to earth and I was honored to meet her!
We also did a workout with Jeanette Jenkins who is adorable, bubbly, and also full of energy! I think I see a theme here…(aka energy is KEY).
And the women of Kaia Konditioning did a fun boot camp early Friday morning where I got some new ideas!
Plank jacks with an actual KICK – hiyo! My girl Tasha & I reppin’ them out in synchronization.
We also did a partner shoulder press where you resist your partner’s press and these were super effective.
Especially when you super set with partner plank hop overs.
Tasha and I shared our version of headstands or shoulder stands? My goal is to work on these.
Gabby taught some cool techniques that I will definitely incorporate into some of my sessions.
Aside from the awesome workshops & workouts – we also ATE super well! The food and snacks were delish & kept us fueled all weekend.
Speaking of eats – have you ever been to the EXPO within IDEA?
This year I worked at the Nutrex-Hawaii Spirulina & BioAstin booth with my friends from the company! They are truly like family to me and I was pumped to spend time there on Saturday.
My girl Traci who just started blogging at Fitmamainprogress.com . She just completed her first Sprint Triathlon and we plan to do a race together! She is a rock star and someone I am proud to call my friend.
If you want to know more about why I align myself with Nutrex-Hawaii, read my post here on the amazing benefits of the true superfood from the oceans of Hawaii.
We had a fun giveaway going on where if you took a picture with me at the booth you were entered to win an awesome Nutrex-Hawaii prize pack of the Spirulina powder (check RECIPES for it here), spirulina caps, Bioastin, cookbook, & a BODYpeace book!
I’m proud to say I take BioAstin and stand behind the original superfood company. It’s truly natures multi vitamin from the oceans of Hawaii so I feel great about taking it.
Loved meeting the adorable Jackelyn Ho & of course spending time with my girl, Tasha!
AND MY GIRL JEN! Let me tell you about this lovely lady. She has been a reader since I first started, supported me in everything I do, & comes to the convention to catch up every year. YOU ROCK MY SOCKS JEN! <3 <3 <3
LOVED seeing some of my ladies swing by and also new friends at the booth! :] Thank you all for coming to visit!! To learn more about Nutrex-Hawaii head to their site [here] and use code “PCTRUE25” for 25% off!
I also found a new love, RISE bars! Made with 3 ingredients – honey, almonds, & protein! So good.
While I was at IDEA I was super inspired by my friends at Crazy Richards Peanut Butter (who you will be seeing more of in the future here!), to start a Periscope!
Are you guys on Periscope? Let’s connect @Powercakes!!
I am truly making a goal to do more video now and Snapchat & Periscope are the ways I will start it.
For those who don’t know what Periscope is – it’s basically a LIVE stream app where if I log in and start streaming, you can join me LIVE, watch it after I post it, or watch it on YouTube after I upload it there.
Pretttttyy awesome.
Also got to see my girl Shauna who was rocking it with TRX at the Expo!
With all of that being said – going to the conference completely motivates me to continue with what I am doing in the Fitness world. I am honored that I get to make a difference in people’s lives and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
If you’re a new blogger or a Veteran – you can definitely learn from BLOGFEST and all it has to offer. If you’re a Trainer or Group Exercise Instructor – IDEA is an amazing place for you to be!
I’m off to catch up on some sleep – I hope you guys have a great start to your week!
Be true to you,
xo Kasey
