How do you Get Moving during the Summer? 4 New Videos!

hey all! How was your weekend?

To kick off this monday – I’ve got 4 new videos for you! For this weeks So Delicious Save Summer Campaign the theme is “GET MOVING” & it couldn’t be more perfect because I truly truly LOVEE training outside.

If there is one thing I wish I could save from summer – it would be the ability to train outdoors all year! I’m a bit jealous of you west coast peeps.

The goal this week is to capture how you “Get Moving”. Here are some ideas to get you started:
  • Go for a run
  • Hit the gym
  • Chase your kids
  • Walk the dog
  • Go for a walk during lunch

Another way to get moving, challenge your friends to a friendly fitness challenge just like my buds @27jdietrick (Jesse) & @fitgirlmoves (ally) from Todd Durkin’s Fitness Quest 10.

They challenged me on Instagram to a friendly get moving Powercakes Challenge which consisted of:

AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)

30 seconds: Jump Rope

30 Seconds: Kettle bell Swings

30 Seconds: Push Ups

I LOVE this & totally accepted the challenge – Ally had completed 6 rounds & Jesse did 8 so my goal was to match my girl Ally’s 6 rounds:

 

Then, after 2 rounds, I thought – hm, how can I REchallenge them?

So, for 4 rounds I did the challenge with my Harbinger Fitness weighted vest on: Incase you missed it- I was recently represented in Women’s Health Magazine on this very topic on how to choose a correct weight for a weighted vest.

My REchallenge came in the form of, grabbing my Harbinger (one of our @GLOWRetreat Sponsors!) weighted vest & doing 4 of the 6 rounds with added weight! (and a wave from the parents!)

Then today, I really love this whole challenge thing, so I got my girl Lauren in on the action during our training session!

She did awesome – we did 4 rounds today.

1 round started with jump rope, 1 round started with hops, and 2 rounds started with jumping jacks. This girl has been killin’ it & is now months past a foot surgery that once held her back – but not anymore!

Just goes to show – a friendly challenge can inspire more than just you! So get out, get moving, & enjoy your summer!

  1. I have to agree with you, outdoor training is the best. I hate being in a over stuffed and dirty gym. Not my type of environment, the great outdoor air is what I need. I was actually doing tire flips outside today at my local gym for the first time, since I just got a job there. I really like it, feels good to be outside 🙂
