Today I wanted to share another #plantPOWER Turkey Day Recipe!
I used Agar Powder to make
& then turned it into a mousse!
Thanks to Iherb.com, let me first explain what Agar Powder is…
Vegetarian Substitute For Gelatin
Agar is naturally gelatinous powder derived from marine red algae.
t’s the perfect vegetarian substitute for beef gelatin in any food application,
and makes an excellent thickener for soups, jellies, ice cream and more.
Agar can be used as a vegetable substitute for gelatin.
Dilute 2 Tbsp of Agar Powder in 1 pint of water or fruit juice.
Cook for 5 minutes and then add fruit or vegetables.
Pour into mold and refrigerate until hard.
Pumpkin Pie Jell-O
1 & 1/2 TB Agar Powder
With 2 Cups of Water
Once boiling- reduce heat to simmer for 4 minutes.
Add Agar mix to :
1.5 Cups of Canned Pumpkin
2 Cups of Coconut Milk (or other nut milk)
1 TB Cinnamon
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp Vanilla
Few drops of liquid stevia
Or 2 TB Pure Maple Syrup
(or other sweetener)
Whisk all of it together & pour into an 8 by 8 baking dish.
Cool in the fridge for at least an hour.
(I cooled it over night)
Once cooled – it will gel up like JELLO!
So basically at this point you have PUMPKIN JELLO.
Cut into 9 squares.
You can eat it just like this….
But I decided to make mine a mousse by whipping it up in my magic bullet!
Put 2 of the squares into your magic bullet
with about 3 TB of liquid – I added coconut milk.
This is a nutritious POWERFUL Turkey Day Dessert!
