#PP Spirulina Giveaway!

hi all! Small update on my life:
still subbing and loving it!
It feels great to be back with the students.

Speaking of students..I shared this on my Facebook last night.

“Today in school, the other Female Phys. Ed. Teacher had the girls put up sticky notes throughout
the girls bathrooms/lockers that said things like
"You're Beautiful" & "You look great today!"
- we had a girl find one 10 minutes after they were put up,
walk into the office holding the note and say

"I don't know where this note came from but I found it in my locker....
I was just dumped on friday and this note made me feel really happy."

It's honestly the simple things in life that can totally turn someone's day around.
With students, I learn this more & more each day. Pay it forward! ♥”

Shout out to one of my fellow teachers for doing this activity with the students!

While we’re on the topic of beautiful moments;
I really wanted to share with you a link to Heather’s honest post from yesterday.
Heather' has truly become like a sister to me & has changed my life forever.
No joke.
I personally feel so amazing now that I’ve been eating plant based, I just can’t get over it.
I’ve never been one to “preach” about a certain diet/lifestyle that anyone should be on,
but I promised to always share my stories honestly with you.

Thanks to motivation from Heather,
I’ve been able to get back to a “normal” – Kasey’s normal.
Even though for 10 years I didn’t know what that normal was.

So please check out this amazing, inspirational post from Heather, learn about her story
and her inspirational way of pushing through a hard time.

Remember, it’s so important to #beTRUEtoYOU.

Now onto #PLANTPOWER
octoberChallenge
Spirulina ever heard of it?
You may be thinking…

Kasey, today’s topic is PROTEIN? How does a GREEN = a Protein?

HISpirulina

Well, I will let Traci from Nutrex Hawaii explain this further.

______________________________________________________________

Aloha, everyone-

I’m with Nutrex Hawaii and met Kasey on Twitter.

We got super excited when we heard about her #plantpower challenge
because we make supernutrients from microalgae.

We were founded in 1990 by Dr. Gerald Cysewski, a world-renowned expert in microalgae and carotenoids.
Our mission is to utilize the benefits of microalgae to improve health and extend lives in the world wide community.

Carved out of land that was once a barren lava flow, Nutrex Hawaii is located on the pristine Kona coast on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Our farm draws on the natural resources that surround us –
abundant warm sunlight, pure deep ocean water and 100% fresh water drawn from Hawaiian aquifers to cultivate
Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica and BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin. Here’s a photo of our farm.

Today’s challenge is about protein and Hawaiian Spirulina is a complete protein,
meaning it has all the essential acids.

Spirulina is 65-71 percent complete protein compared to beef,
which is only 22 percent, and lentils, which are only 26 percent.

The only food with more complete usable protein is eggs!

There is a rainbow of good health inside the microalgae-based Hawaiian Spirulina.

A three-gram serving of this natural superfood contains:

· The orange of beta carotene for immune system support

· The yellow of zeaxanthin for eye and brain health

· The green of chlorophyll for anti-toxin benefits and iron content

· The blue of phycocyanin for inflammatory balance

· More nutrition gram-per-gram than any other food in the world

· More antioxidant power then 5 servings of fruits and vegetables

· More than 94 healthful nutrients

In addition to being a great source of protein, Hawaiian Spirulina has been scientifically
shown to support a healthy immune system.
In fact, more than 200 scientific studies document its broad range of health benefits.

Anecdotally, many people have reported increased energy levels after regular consumption of Spiruilna.

Spirulina can be taken in tablet or powder form.

We recommend taking 3 grams a day, which equals six tablets or 1 tsp.

Here are a couple of our favorite recipes for the powder:

Tofu Salad

8 oz firm tofu

2 medium tomatoes

1 medium grated carrot

2 spring onions finely chopped

1 bell pepper (green or red)

1 medium zucchini

2 stalks of celery

1 tbsp soy sauce

Generous pinch of basil, thyme and marjoram

Hot pepper sauce or cayenne pepper (to taste)

1 heaped tsp Hawaiian Spirulina

Chop all vegetables and mix all ingredients together.

Guacamole

2 avocados

2 diced medium tomatoes

2 tbsp salsa

1 tsp Hawaiian Spirulina

½ medium onion, finely chopped

Cayenne pepper to taste

Fresh lime juice to taste

Pinch of kosher salt

Mash avocados. Add all other ingredients and blend well.

Spirulina gives guacamole a beautiful color.

Hawaiian Spirulina has the highest known nutritional content
of any Spirulina due in part to its continuous growth cycle.

While other growers need to shut down for three to four months/year;
the sunny tropical climate allows for Hawaiian Sprirulina growth for 12 months/year.

Please say Aloha to us on our website, Facebook and Twitter!

Kasey, Mahalo for having us as a guest today!

In good health,

Traci, Nutrex Hawaii

@supernutrient
