The size of a PowerCake

Hey all!

So I've gotten some questions about the size of my powercakes
And I thought I would explain my theory behind them! ;]

A POWERCAKE is usually one of my meals.

& I typically eat 5-6 meals a day.

I try to make each meal balanced.

So for example; if someone eats oatmeal, egg whites, & fruit with some type of healthy fat for a usual breakfast;
I basically just combine all of those ingredients into ONE powercake!

And I also get excited when I come up with something that is large;
but doesn't have a bunch of calories!

Example:

My POWER PUMPKIN ROLL!

Stats on the whole POWER ROLL:

such a great combo of WHOLESOME ingredients!
it's pumpkin roll with no guilt! ;]

So even though they may look "large",
I take that as a positive thing because you're getting to eat that whole thing for the same calories as a meal!

Also, if you're working out
your body NEEDS the FUEL!

For example; I made a
PUMPKIN COCONUT FLOUR POWERCAKE

tonight for tomorrow morning
after my 6am work out
which included...

2 TB Coconut Flour
1 TB Psyllium Husk Powder
1/4 Cup Pumpkin
6 Egg whites
2 cups of liquid
(because the husk powder will SOAK UP so much liquid,
I keep stirring and adding more liquid until it's a good consistency.)

& spices, stevia, baking powder, and frozen spinach.
Baked for 35 minutes at 350 degrees

In my opinion, that is not that many ingredients
and they are lower on the calorie scale than your average pancake.

Also, it's a great mix of protein, healthy fats, healthy carbs, vitamins, nutrients,
AND it is large due to the flours absorbing so much liquid;
so that you do feel "Satisfied" after you eat it!

Especially when you top it with coconut butter ;]
or any other topping!
I usually just use 1 TB of a healthy fat for a topping
or I'll use some of my CHIA JAM
or my HEALTHY CHOCOLATE SAUCE!

FACT:
DON'T FEAR THE FAT!

and also,

DON'T FEAR having a POWERCAKE for breakfast to get your day started!!

I just did a lesson in my school about how important breakfast is;
I explained to my students how you should try and get all of the different nutrients
into your meal and have a balanced breakfast!

I used the example;

If a car has an empty tank, will it be able to run?

Nope.

So after you sleep for 8-9 hours (wouldn't that be ideal?)

your body is on EMPTY and needs REFILLED for the day!

so why not kick start your metabolism with a POWERCAKE

And get a nice balanced meal to begin your day? ;]

Now sometimes, if you wanted to be like my Mom
& make them in advance for a snack,
She will make an extra large one and then cut it up into pieces
to eat throughout the day with a piece of fruit or some extra protein!

That is also a great way to enjoy a powercake! ;]

The bottom line is;

Whichever way you choose to eat a powercake,
I hope you enjoy them :]

You can check out my POWERCAKES
on my old blog for now, while I continue to update this site! ;]

Have a great dayyy!!

xoxo
