A Little Bit of Kindness Goes A Long Way

Hi all! Hope you’re having a good weekend. Today I just wanted to share a simple story that completely changed my whole day yesterday.

I ran into Walmart after the gym looking for a fun sweater or shirt I could grab Corey for his coworker Christmas Sweater Party last night. You know those “after gym errands” where your hairs in a crazy messy bun, your sweaty, hungry, cold, wrapped up in a scarf, & thinking that a compliment would be one of the last things coming to you.

Well, as I was going through the t shirts, a woman approached me & said, “I just have to tell you….I saw you walk in & grab your cart and I couldn’t help but think how beautiful your scarf looks on you.” Which I responded, “oh gosh thank you! I actually got it here – $6 right over there!” & she said, “I just really wanted to tell you how nice you look & how beautiful that scarf looks on you.”

As she turned to walk away I had a huge smile on my face & said, “thank you so much! I hope you have a great day.”

I couldn’t help but think how this simple random act of kindness from a stranger felt like a huge comforting hug from a loved one.

As many of you know, today is the one year since the Newtown tradgedy. The Newtown parents & community ask that people perform random acts of kindness in honor of their loved one. I woke up this morning to my soul sister Heather’s beautiful post.

Ever since I can remember, I love the feeling of giving to others & seeing the reaction on their faces. Just like Heather & her Dad did for the man who helped them with the tree, or the lady who went out of her way to give me that compliment, the kindness comes from within. Take the feeling of that energy hug (aka kindness) that someone gives you & share it with others – it truly is contagious

So today, & everyday, do something kind for someone in honor of the Newtown community. Days like this remind me how truly thankful I am for even being able to write this post & connect with you all. Together we can spread some more kindness into the world which can hopefully catch on and as Amelia Earhart says, “make new trees.

#beKind & #betruetoyou,

xo Kasey

Have you done a random act of kindness lately or has someone done one for you? I’d love to hear about it!

  1. Love this! Such a great compliment especially since it took you so by surprise. I think this is such a great reminder that such a small thing like complimenting a stranger as well as someone you know can make such a huge difference 🙂

This story just warmed my heart <3

So very true. I had to go to a party today dressed in a Santa dress. So I stopped to get myself some hot tea. And while I was there I passed out some daisies I had bought to all the people sitting there. Made everyone smile.

  3. […] morning everyone! Hope you had a great weekend & had a chance to do some random acts of kindness. It' a SNOWY one here – a least 6 or so inches we've accumulated over night! I do love the coziness […]
