Hi all! I hope you’re having a great Tuesday.

Today I am switching gears a bit to bring awareness & support to an incident that hits pretty close to home. A friend of mine from high school, Michelle, has started campaign to assist the Smith family who just recently lost their son in tragic zip lining accident.

Pictured below is the adorable Michelle & her Dad during the Pittsburgh Half Marathon this year.

When I saw what Michelle was doing, I couldn’t help but want to spread the word for her amazing & heartfelt cause. I’ll let Michelle’s words take it from here:

“I am starting this campaign in support of the Smith family who are very close friends to my family. They tragically lost their son on June 10, 2014. Two days prior their son, Rex (13 years old) was injured during a zip lining accident that later took his life. Rex was playing with friends at a neighbors house on a home made zip line. Officials say the zip line was homemade and suspended about four feet off the ground between two trees. Smith was injured when a fastener pulled loose and hit him in the back of the head.

Given the circumstances of this tragic accident and tragedy to the Smith family and anyone who knew Rex, I am asking friends to donate anyway they can. If you cannot contribute through a donation, please spread the cause. We cannot make their suffering any less, but we can assist them through this difficult time with the donations we receive. I am grateful to anyone who comes across this page, taking the time to read and sympathize with the Smith family. All donations go directly to the family to assist them with the hospital bill costs. Rest in peace Rex, you are greatly missed.” – Michelle McGrane
