With so much going on these days and exciting things ahead — I sometimes have to stop and think to myself…those who hop onto my blog, do they really know what I’m all about?

Sure, I love to post recipes, motivation, fitness tips, giveaways, reviews, & more – but all of those things wouldn’t be possible without my passion and my story.

Today I wanted to say hi to anyone who may be new to my blog, social media, or anyone who may not know why I’m so passionate behind what I do.

My name is Kasey & I’m a certified personal trainer with a passion for fueling your body, training the way that makes you happy, & being true to yourself throughout it all.

“Powercakes” comes from a name my mom (who is also a Personal Trainer) used to call pancakes that she “hid” protein powder into when we were kids before soccer games on Sunday mornings.

My passion comes from years of struggles with eating disorders & body image issues which all routed from inner control issues. We often reach to something on the outside to control when we’re looking for more control on the inside or something happening in our lives.

When I was younger going through this (11 years old) I used to think “why me?” “Why do I have to be the one with something wrong?” Years of therapy & amazing support by my family/friends led me to a better place before struggling again throughout college.

I knew I had to make a change in order to do what I wanted to do, help others. I took a stand to myself & promised that I’d put in the work to come out on the other end.

I spent months & months challenging myself to find a happier balance with food (allowing myself to eat for nourishment & fuel but also pleasure) & training to be strong, not just to look a certain way.

This then led to co-authoring the book BODYPEACE with Heather Waxman where we both wanted to share our stories & lessons so we could help others through whatever their journey may be.

I look back now at my 11 year old self and I tell her, you went through everything for a reason Kasey.

My past totally set me up for my future & has given me the strength to truly dig deep & help others. My passion is to share that you can find YOUR balance in food & fitness. My passion is to help others, especially the youth, to embrace food as fuel & fitness as a way to be strong in many areas of your life.

You are more than a number on a scale & you are more than a perfect selfie.

In conclusion, thank you for hanging out here & supporting a positive outlet that I am so thankful to have here on my blog and social media.

Be true to you,

xo Kasey
