#PP FRUIT: Banana Orange Spice Smoothie & MILA Giveaway!

Today’s PLANT POWER topic is FRUIT!

octoberChallenge

This is another word that people seem to fear.

I am often asked if I eat fruit;
& the answer is, OF COURSE!

Fruits are loaded with vitamins, minerals, clean carbs,
& most are a significant source of FIBER!

Every day after school I eat some type of fruit for a snack.

Speaking of school, just wanted to share a pic from instagram last night;

Most of you know that I’ve been subbing at my old high school for PE!

One of my students commented on my @mizunorunning shoes
& said I had major "swag" !

Also reppin’ the @BN_SHAPE tank and my students loved it
and wanted to know how they could find them!

I told them how great it feels to BE IN SHAPE & live a healthy balanced life!

On the way out of Zumba every day, the door reads
"do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."

This is something I try to remind myself of daily-

do not let things that we have no control over interfere with something you can control & can succeed in!

It's up to you to make this choice;
Love the motivational quotes around the school!

Fact is; I'm a sweaty mess every day but I love it and this is #proof!

Be the change you wish you see in the world!

Anywayyyy, back to FRUIT

[Olive Oil & Balsamic Infused Strawberries]

I prefer to eat my fruit by itself for better absorption into the body!

As heather once told me, fruit is digested quickly,
so if you eat it in combo with protein (slower digesting)
sometimes that can cause digestion issues.

So now I’ve been eating it alone to really let my body do the work!
If I eat fruit first thing in the morning;
I will usually eat my breakfast about an hour or so later!

Whether it’s a beautiful fruit salad waiting for me in the fridge
thanks to the boyfriend
yeah yeah, I’m spoiled…sometimes Winking smile

Or some of my favorites are
FRESH FIGS & APPLES!

I love taking advantage of these fresh fruits while I can!

And yes, sometimes I double up my apples for a #powersnack!

Another way I love fruit is in a POWERSMOOTHIE!

I got a ton of apples and the most amazing fresh, organic fruit and veggies. My absolute favorite was the STRAWBERRIES! Not the giant mutants you see in the grocery store but the marble-sized ones that pack just as much if not more flavor.

  21. Niki says:

    It’s so hard to pick! How can you not love multiple kinds of fruit. I love watermelon, berries, pears, and grapefruit! If I were to pick one piece of fruit to be my favorite it would be a peach!

  22. Linda says:

    Hi Powercakes! This is my first ever comment to you though I’ve been following your blog FOREVER. You have inspired me to try Chia seeds, spirulina….all kinds of stuff and now, I religiously do the apple cider vinegar/lemon juice cleansing drink. I don’t tweet and just have an extremely old basic phone so to upload a picture would mean dragging out the camera. Talk about laborious. lol. Anyway, I’m one of those people who fears fruit. I say that, but I do eat apples and an occasional banana. Apples for sure being my favorite. I like them cooked or raw. They’re just so easy to grab and to chow down like a big dog. I would love to be chosen for the bag of Mila. Like I said, I have not entered any of your drawings because at almost 50 years old, I’m just entirely tooooo out of the loop with the fancy tech you young kids are using. haha.

    Okey doke. Thank you for taking the time to do everything you do! Have a good day!

    • Kasey says:

    My favorite fruit has to be pineapple. But I love pretty much all fruit — bananas, mangoes, apples, strawberries, blueberries… I really just love all of it. And I just made some of your mixed berry chia jam — it’s in the fridge now! Can’t wait to have some later.

  32. I would love to try Mila! Narrowing my favorite fruit down is super hard…..I’m a fruit junkie. I have to put bananas at the top of the list because they are so versatile and there are so many ways to use them. I love baking with very ripe bananas to naturally sweeten the recipe.

  33. Molly says:

    Love, love, LOVE papaya!

  34. Just ate figs this morning! Also had a banana in my green smoothie! Had a bite of my sons pears after their lunches! Couldn’t refuse! Oh, and aren’t tomatoes and avocado technically fruits??? I had some of both of those today too! I had a hard time turning up the package of figs at my health food store today (for tomorrow), but they are getting quite costly! I should try fruit on its own. I struggle with digestion problems from time to time. However, I also try to keep my blood sugar levels stable by pairing foods. But maybe, overall, separating the fruit out would be more beneficial for my body! Ill have to give it a try!

  35. Tracy says:

    My current favorite fruit is avocado!!! So delicious &nutritious!!
