Hey all! Happy Feature Friday! Today I wanted to share with you a little bit about my good friend, Jordan, and her inspiring mission! Jordan and I went to high school together and spent years playing on the same Varsity soccer team. Jordan was like the older sister on the team & was always a great shoulder to lean on. She now works for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and collaborated with us for the Power Up Your Marathon Training Night!

It’s so great to be able to team up with people from around the area who are also out there trying to help others. With Jordan’s passion & background in writing, she started a website called Listen, Lucy.

I think this idea is AMAZING and so empowering for one another. It’s a website where you can simply write in with art, videos, pictures, poems, or just your words for telling your story. It’s a place where anyone can come to and write about daily struggles, issues, or something positive that happened in your life.

I am so happy to introduce you to Jordan, who by the way, just got married! I couldn’t help but share this picture. AND they were high school sweethearts – um, can you say adorable!

“A little bit about me…Well, first, my name is Jordan, not Lucy. Lucy is a nickname given to me by my mom from when I was about 2 years old. It is a name that puts a smile on my face more times than not. I graduated from Mercyhurst College with a BA in Communication where I also was the Opinion Editor for the school newspaper, The Merciad! I would write weekly columns about the daily struggles of a college student and it played a huge part in the creation of my page.

I have been living with anxiety disorders for many years now and I found that the best release from my internal struggles was to write about it. It felt so great to get down on paper what was going on in my head. I came up with Listen, Lucy because I wanted to create an outlet where people can express themselves, creatively. We are all dealing with different issues whether it be depression, anxiety, illness or just daily struggles. I wanted to create a community where people could tell their stories in whatever way they feel most comfortable. These issues tend to make people feel isolated, alone. I want to change that.

My mission…

The mission is simple—create a more compassionate, judgment free world and show everyone we are all in this together. We want to provide people with an outlet to express themselves and show them that, regardless of how they may feel, they always have someone listening.

Call to action…

Please share Listen, Lucy with everyone you know and write in! (listenlucy.squarespace.com)  Writing, art, videos, pictures, poems or any other way of telling your story is happily accepted. (Please send to listenlucy@gmail.com) Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@listenlucy) and like us on Facebook!

Let’s create a community where we all understand each other and connect when a lot of people don’t have someone to lean on. You can express it in whatever way you feel, and you will remain 100% anonymous, please just start your story off with “Listen, Lucy.”

Love you Jordan! Thank you for all that you do.

Happy Friday, friends!

Be true to you,
