From all of the years of working with the youth, there is one thing that holds true to what I see as one of the biggest changes in my athletes — CONFIDENCE.

They may walk in to a session not knowing what to expect but they end up leaving with a “I just did that” accomplished feeling.

Something that all of their parents often tell me is their daughter or son’s gain of self-confidence through their training.

Being willing to learn the proper fundamentals of basic movements like deadlifts, squats, & presses then taking that and progressing in their strength is something that adds to this found confidence.

I have a 16 year old that can pull a 215lb deadlift and then I also have a 13 year old that is learning with just the bar. The beauty is that everyone is different — but they all end up leaving with an accomplished mindset.

The goal is for this confidence

that they find in the gym

to carry over into their everyday lives.

From school work to social situations they are put in — their confidence from believing in themselves to try a pull up for the first time or a full push up for their first time is something that completely correlates into stepping into a math test with confidence or looking in the mirror and seeing STRENGTH.

  1. If Girls Ran The World sounds like a great cause! Getting teens excited about health and fitness is always a win. Gyms and machinery are intimidating to everyone starting out, but you’re right, with a little guided personal training teens and adults can become embowered and confident. Learning and changing our bodies through fitness helps foster a healthy mindset indeed!

Great write-up – it never ceases to amaze me how much confidence can change our lives in many ways. In fact there are dozens of case studies that link working out to not onlyincreased happiness but also increased confidence.

I think it’s great what you’re doing – in a world of Kardashians and Miley Cyruses we need to remind our young girls how great they can be. They need to know they can do whatever they put their minds to – they don’t need to be like those BS celebrities….that isn’t real life.
