I’ve developed 3 new recipes using one of my favorite GREEN ingredients, Spirulina Pacifica!!

simple gauc spirulina

Simple Spirulina PowerGuac

Developed by Kasey @ http://powercakes.net

Serves: 4-6 people
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

· 2 Ripe Avocados

· ½ Cup Salsa of choice

· 1 TB Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder

· ½ TB Minced Garlic

Directions:

· Slice open & scoop out the flesh of the avocados.

· Combine all ingredients into a bowl.

· Mix thoroughly.

· Let chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to the flavors can blend.

· Serve with chopped veggies or your favorite chips!

· Store in the fridge.

Cheesy Spirulina Kale Chips

Serves: 3-4

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

· 1 Bunch of Kale Leaves (Rinsed & Dried)

· ¼ Cup of Nutritional Yeast

· 1 TB Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder

· 1 TB Paprika

· Cooking Spray of choice

· Sea Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions:

· Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

· Mix Nutritional yeast, Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder, & paprika together in a small bowl & set aside.

· Wash & dry the bunch of kale. (5-6 stalks)

· Using a knife, de-stalk the kale leaves by cutting out the hard stalk down the middle.

· Lay the kale leaves onto a cookie sheet.

· Spray the kale leaves with cooking spray of choice.

· Sprinkle the Dry Mix over the kale leaves.

· Sprinkle Sea Salt & Pepper over the kale leaves to taste.

· Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

o Keep an eye on them so they don’t burn!

· Enjoy!

Spirulina Hummus With Yam Chip Dippers

Serves: 4-6 people
Prep Time: 10-20 minutes

Hummus Ingredients:

· 1 (15 ounce) can of chickpeas (drained & rinsed- about 2 cups)

· ¼ cup of Tahini (sesame seed butter)

· 1/3 cup Water

· Juice from 1 fresh lemon (about 2-3 Tablespoons)

· 1 TB Extra Virgin Olive Oil

· 1 TB Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder

· 1 TB Minced Garlic

· 1 TB Paprika

· Sea Salt & Pepper to taste

Yam Chips Ingredients:

· 3 Yams or Sweet Potatoes (washed)

· Cooking Spray of choice

· Sea Salt & Pepper to taste

Chip Directions:

· Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

· Slice your yams/sweet potatoes into chips with a sharp knife.

· Spread chips onto a cookie sheet & spray with cooking spray.

· Sprinkle with Sea Salt & Pepper to taste.

· Bake for 35-40 minutes until crispy.

· Let cool before serving.

Hummus Directions:

· Drain & Rinse the canned beans.

· In a food processor, blender, or by hand – process the beans, tahini, water, lemon juice, olive oil, & garlic until smooth.

· Thoroughly stir-in Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder, paprika, sea salt, & pepper.

· Pour into serving bowls & sprinkle with paprika for garnish (optional).

· Serve with yam chips, chopped veggies, or favorite chips!

· Store in the fridge.

    I’ve just discovered both your and heather’s (fortheloveofkale.com) blogs and I LOVE them! I would def try the hummus and the guac- besides salsa, they’re my favorite condiments! For the spirulina I would put it green smoothies for sure…I love eating greens, and I love the energy it provides for me! No midday slump when you’re powered up on GREENS!

    I want to try the spiralina hummus for sure! I usually take my spiralina in pill form, but I’m excited about cutting down on a pill and adding a food!! My mother got me to start talking it after she found out she is at high risk four breast cancer and started to look for better life choices, now were both hooked!     Hi Kasey! I just found a great way to add spirulina…in no-bake brownie balls! They’re vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free too.

    12 medjool dates, pits removed
    2 tsp spirulina
    1/2 cup walnuts
    3 tbsp cacao powder
    2 tbsp cacao nibs

    1) Combine all 5 ingredients in a food processor.
    2) Pulse until dates have broken down.
    3) Roll into balls and enjoy!

  24. i have heard SO many amazing things about spirulina and have always wanted to try it! i LOVE kale chips so i think those would be a must and also that hummus looks amazing! also a huge hummus fan and love to dip almost everything in it!

    it is so easy to add this to basically anything without altering the taste, but getting all the added health benefits! there are tons of ways to be creative with it!

    I have never tried spirulina (darn bank account lol) but have always wanted to… I’ve read such amazing things about it. I would first try the kale chips, and then spend the entire day making everything else and, knowing me, put it in everything I can think of lol. If it’s like my relationship with nooch, then it would probably go with everything. Plus, doesn’t food taste better with a brilliant green hue? I think so ;)

    I would love to try the Spirulina hummus dip. I personally mix Spirulina with 1/2 cup pumpkin, cinnamon, 1 scopp Sunwarrior choc. protein, 3 tblps coconut flour, 3 tblsp almond milk and 2 tblps almond butter for a nice pudding or ‘frosting’ for my oatmeal.

    I just bought my first Spirulina powder and have been loving adding it to my smoothies. I usually combine it with almond milk and a banana and sometimes add almond butter or cocoa powder for a delicious and nutritious smoothie. I have definitely noticed an increase in my energy! I never thought of adding it to hummus. I’m definitely trying that this weekend!

    I’m hooked on dried kale I’ve been using my dehydrator keeping temp low like 110 degrees which is supposed to preserve nutrients. I’ve been trying several combinations and I’m luving them all . I am room deficient always despite taking vits and protein is super important as a gastric bypass pt. so I think I could and would definitely benefit from spirulina. I would prob also try it with the hummus and in smoothies.

    I’d like to try this:
    Spirulina Honey

    3 tablespoons raw honey
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon Spirulina powder

    Mix all ingredients together and use as you would regular honey by drizzling it on fruit, putting it in your tea, cereal . . .(etc.).

    I just recently tried spirulina and I am absolutely dying to try this hummus recipe! Unfortunately I am at college in a dorm so making healthy recipes all the time isn’t always so easy. I ahve, however, been able to try using spirulina on popcorn, so yummy! Just air pop popcorn and add spirulina and nutritional yeast!

    I would love to win this Spirulina giveaway because the new Powercake recipes using it look DIVINE! and also everytime I find spirulina in stores it is CRAZY expensive, so I havent got it :( !
