Happy International Women’s Day, everyone!

This is an awesome day to recognize how we can truly empower one another to break through stereotypes & be true to ourselves. Building each other up will only inspire others to do the same & I’m thankful for all of YOU wonderful women out there who support me and in turn, I support you! xo

Today we’re switching gears with my friends from GlassesUSA.com and whelp…we’re going to chat about how I got glasses!

Well, technically… I’ve “had” glasses since I was about 8 years old.

When I was 6 or 7 years old, I was told by my Optometrist that I was to wear an “eye patch” to help strengthen my weaker eye, which in my case, is my left eye.

I don’t have horrible vision (hence why I didn’t really feel the need for glasses again until recently) but I definitely can tell the noticeable difference whenever I’m on the computer, reading, or driving.

I vividly remember these eye patches I was supposed to wear (similar to a Pirate’s patch) and how horrified I was at 7 years old to wear this around my friends.

The 27 year old me would totally do it in order to not have to wear glasses down the road…but the 7 year old me, playing with my friends, was like noooo thank you.

This then caused my left eye to not strengthen during that crucial time to do so and led me to wearing glasses, sports’s glasses for soccer, & contacts (or contact in 1 eye) in middle school.

In all honesty, I got out of the habit of wearing my 1 contact and didn’t notice a huge difference while not wearing them until recently when I really found myself squinting to see distant road signs, having to blink multiple times while being on the computer to focus, & just an overall “tired eye” feeling after a full day.

While home for Christmas, I chatted with my sister-in-law Michelle who is now an Optometrist (shout out to her for all of her hard work!! She rocks) and she helped me go over different glasses options, what to look for, & how to measure them.

My friends at GlassesUSA.com had reached out prior to this which really sparked me making an eye doctor appointment and bringing glasses back into my life.

GOSH years ago the cute options weren’t as prevalent as they are now! I’m pretty sure I rocked Turtle Shell glasses for years…and so did Corey….were we meant to be or what? ;]

This was one of our most enjoyed pictures at our Wedding Reception.

After chatting with my sis-in-law & getting my eye exam done locally, I was much more comfortable ordering glasses online.

It’s SUPER easy to order your glasses online:

  • Choose a Frame
  • Pick Your Lens Type
  • Enter Your Prescription
  • Fast & Free Shipping
  • 24/7 Tracking

You can also upload a picture of yourself..which I did…to test out different frames on your face.

I ended up ordering the MUSE M1122 Prescription sunglasses which I was so pumped to have especially during my most recent trip to Chicago where they hit record temps of almost 70 degrees!

Love the colors of these and the fit.

They are super comfy & I keep them in a case in my purse for driving & being outside.

I also got Barbara Purple & Tortoise to maybe bring back my younger years with the rounder frame? ha! I do love these and keep them by my computer to wear while I work!

They are also super comfy & I love the fit + the color. I wanted to get a pair that was different than my usual black or brown go-to.

GlassesUSA.com are also in the middle of their Winter Clearance where some frames are up to $75 dollars off and you can get up to 50% off if you sign up!

I highly recommend them if you’re in the market for glasses — the quality is great and the prices are much better than buying them in-store.

Thank you GlassesUSA.com for the sweet specs & be true to you,

xo Kasey

Honestly you really look cute wearing glasses. Glasses really do suite you quite well. Yeah when your 7 and a girl you usually don’t want be a pirate. But if it makes you feel any better even you had wore the patch like you told to most likely you would be wearing glasses anyway. The patching only worked about 35% of the time. Ask your sister-in-law. I’m sure that she would agree with me. Now that your an adult wearing glasses do you have a prescription for both eyes or just your left eye? I would think that you probably have at least a small / weak prescription for your right eye to relax your eye a bit from the extra strain i’m sure that eye was getting.
Do you mind my asking what your current prescription is. By the way i’m a retired optician.
