Good afternoon everyone! I hope wherever you are that you’re safe. With everything that’s happening today, I wanted to update you on some of my favorite things lately to hopefully just get your mind off of things for a few minutes. As Kelly Ripa said the other morning, her job is to be a entertainment show & that’s what they will do. So even though I am nowhere near the status of Kelly, I do agree that I will do my best to hopefully put a smile on your face while continuing to pray for Boston.

Lately, I’ve been starting my morning off with a big green smoothie! I tell ya, I look forward to my combos every single morning. I find that it fills me up but digests so quickly that it’s an awesome way to kick start my metabolism.

The other morning I posted to Instagram about using a beautiful organic papaya – it makes the smoothie so creamy & rich!

Did you know that Papaya is an awesome source of antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals and special digestive enzymes that have an effect both internally and externally?

Papayas can improve your skin, relieve digestion problems, protect your eyes and heart and possibly lower your risk of many diseases.

Creamy Strawberry Banana Papaya Green Smoothie!

Recipe;

  • 1/4 of a large papaya
  • a handful of strawberries
  • a handful of frozen banana slices
  • 1 cup or so of frozen spinach (makes it thick)
  • handful of fresh spinach
  • spoonfuls of
  • spirulina powder
  • cinnamon
  • almond milk (or milk of choice) until desired consistency!

I order a lot of these from iherb.com – coupon code XUG228 if you’re interested in a discount for first time users!

I like to eat mine with a spoon in a powerbowl or sometimes if I want a crunch I put some on brown rice cakes!

After my green smoothie I feel ready to take on the day. I had a ton of errands to run yesterday which included lunch with a friend from college.

We ordered baba ganoush with a side of rainbow veggies & I had a huge spinach salad with sprouts.

We both enjoyed unsweetened blueberry pomegranate tea – this stuff is amazinggggg.

After leaving lunch I headed to Whole Foods for some groceries. It just so happens that there is a Starbucks right next door…talk about heaven, right? Anyway, I had in my mind that I was going to stop and get a Tazo iced tea after grocery shopping…so what did I do? Paid for my groceries & pushed the grocery cart right into Starbucks without realizing it. Opened the door & everything. I realized what I was doing whenever I looked up & saw a family sitting there staring at me – oops! Totally forgot to put the cart away. Go me! Winking smile ha, so I took the groceries to my car, saw the family leave & didn’t feel as embarrassed to walk back in because this girl was thirsty. Way to make an entrance, Kasey.

photo 5No better way to enjoy an unsweet passion iced tea than with the sun roof open on an 80 degree day.

And it’s an added bonus when the barista’s spell your name right Winking smile Headed right to CrossFit for an awesome workout.

Came home to enjoy an awesome Post Workout BBQ POWERMEAL. In all honesty, I’ve never really been a big BBQ girl –  I always loved ketchup & honey mustard on everything. But, I had this craving for it the other day & honestly didn’t feel like making my own (crazy, right?) so I picked this guy up at a local health food store!

I’d like to introduce you to Caveman Bob. I was having trouble finding a sauce without a ton of sugar added – the other day I came across this BBQ product called Caveman Bob’s Smokey Apple Paleo Barbecue Sauce at a small local health food store & I’ve been hooked since! What I like about the company is that they don’t use added sugars in their sauces- they use puréed organic apples to add natural sweetness along with all natural herbs & spices. It’s also pretty low in sodium! Their site is CavemanBobs.com if you’re interested- I liked it so much I thought I’d share it with you all if you’re looking for a clean BBQ fix.

I had some tonight mixed with quinoa, avocado, dulse, & roasted brussels! YES PLEASE.
