My friends at Fair Trade USA were kind enough to send some Fair Trade products and I have to admit that it made me notice that “fair trade” certified sticker even more on products I see in the store. It also really opened up my eyes to educate myself more on Fair Trade Products.

Below are a few products that you may see and say, “I didn’t know that was Fair Trade!”

Turmeric Tea from Numi — Turmeric has a host of benefits for the body. Plus this tea also has hints of vanilla and cinnamon which make it perfect for nighttime.

But first, what is Fair Trade?

Fair Trade products ensure factory workers receive safe working conditions, to helping farmers and workers improve their communities and environment to grow and sew the best products possible.

In fact, your everyday purchases can help farmers and factory workers in 70 countries work in safe conditions, earn extra money to invest in their communities and improve the lives of their families. [befair.org]

Food and Beverages that are Fair Trade:

  • Produce – you can find grape tomatoes, bananas, bell peppers, mangoes, pineapple, tomatoes and more that are Fair Trade Certified – just look for the label in your local supermarket!
  • Seafood – now you can find the first ever Fair Trade Certified tuna in Safeway supermarket.
  • Numi Organic Tea by Mood allows tea-drinkers to allow their mood to reflect their tea selection, with varieties like “relaxation and “focus”
  • Bhakti Chai includes a handmade decorative box along with two Fair Trade certified chai varieties, making an excellent gift.
  • Bark Thins – these are DELISH! A Fair Trade chocolate label guarantees that the farmers who grow the cocoa beans we use in our chocolate are getting paid a fair price, following good agricultural practices, and investing in their farms and communities. All of their dark chocolate flavors are certified by the Fair Trade USA organization.
  • Lake Champlain Drinking Chocolate – Why are they Fair Trade? Because it’s the people who make their products possible. And that means everyone in the supply chain — from the farmers who grow and harvest the cocoa, to those who transport it, transform it into chocolate, process your order, package it, and ensure it arrives ready for you to enjoy
  • O’Coconut Chews from Nutiva — one of my favorite treats! Check out my Strawberry & Coconut Cream Tarts using the chews here.

Larabar is committed to purchasing Fair Trade chocolate and coffee beans from farmers who are Fair Trade Certified™ by Fair Trade USA for their Original Fruit & Nut Bar™. Good practices and good products go hand in hand.

I really liked partnering up with Fair Trade USA to learn more about Fair Trade practices. I have to admit I used to see the label of Fair Trade but I wasn’t 100% sure what exactly went into that. Now learning about all of these products, it’s good to know that companies are out there that take this very seriously.

You can check out more info on their #BeFair movement by going to BeFair.org and searching their #BeFair Hashtag.

Thank you Fair Trade USA for all of the information and all that you do!

Be true to you,

xo Kasey
