Hi all! Hope you had a great weekend. I am STILL feeling my workout from Saturday! Helloooo soreness! It’s one of those hurt so good feelings since my ladies & I worked hard on Saturday.

Today my to-do list is pretty epic, per usual, since I am leaving for the Under Armour Headquarters tomorrow as part of the What’s Beautiful campaign via FitFluential! Myself & three other ladies, Electra, Tasha, & Heather, were chosen to fly out for TWO DAYS of Under Armour lovin’! I can’t wait to share the experience with you all.

Today I wanted to recap the final two days of my Cali Trip! Just incase you missed the other recaps;

Day [ONE]

Day [TWO]

Day [THREE]

Day [FOUR]

Day Five of the IDEA WORLD Convention was Sunday so it is a shorter day. I went to a session in the morning called “Building your Brand” which I thought was right up my ally. The session focused on building your Personal Training business & how to know your WORTH. So many of us shared what we do & how we come up with our prices; the presenter made sure that we understood to be confident in what we do as a living & not feel “bad” about charging your clients, since this is our career! It’s always good to have a reminder to be true to you!

After that, I met up with mamacakes to head to The Farm of Beverly Hills for brunch.

Egg omelet with fresh local veggies with a side of tomatoes & avocado.

*Fact: the avocados in Cali are AMAZING.

*I also had some oatmeal with a sprinkle of brown sugar & raisins!

It was so nice outside (as usual) so we sat at a sidewalk table & took in our last full day of Cali. Right next to the restaurant was the Grammy Museum so we couldn’t pass that up! Especially because mamacakes is in a band & loves music. There were no pictures allowed but I promise it’s worth visiting it if you’re into music.

After that, we headed back to the hotel to clean up (the room & ourselves). We then went to an early dinner at Botegga Louie. It’s an Italian place located in LA.

The food was absolutely amazing – so fresh, full of color & flavor!

I enjoyed a rainbow salad with avocado, poached egg, & honey dijon dressing.

A glass of Riesling was the perfect addition to this meal Winking smile

Mamackaes & I split pistachio Brussels sprouts – I am SO making these at home.

Personally, I am a sucker for a perfectly poached egg.

Lately, my stomach/digestion has been doing well with eggs being introduced back in!

Totally looks like a beer in my hand –  but it’s a Kombucha!

I am also a sucker for kombucha & this Kombucha Dog was delish!!

The next morning I got up to get in a good workout before heading to the airport. We had a whole day of traveling ahead of us so I wanted to “move” and get my blood flowing. Plus, the hotel had a beautiful fitness center so I couldn’t pass it up.

They had everything so a POWER CIRCUIT is what went down.

  • 5 min elliptical warm up

3 Rounds

  • 10 each leg split squat + bicep curl.
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 heavy cable row
  • sprint 60 strides on a treadmill that’s powered off between each set!
  • Stabilize hands on handles-Push that belt and get your heart rate up!

Then, 3 rounds

  • 10 Burpee dead lift with dumbbells
    • (burpee legs out, bring back in, plant heels, pull the weight up using hamstrings & glutes, tight back, straight spine, just like a deadlift)
  • 10 hammer curls
  • 10 gate swings
    • (squat down legs together, swing legs open and sumo squat, then jump back to center)
  • 10 laying curls
    • (laying on an incline bench, curl weights up without using anything but your biceps!)
  • Sprint 60 strides on the treadmill between each round!

Took about 30 minutes or so! Met up with mamacakes to REFUEL with breakfast at the hotel.

—————–

Let’s talk about Ketchup (one of my most random segway sentences ever) & my personal “food rule challenges”.

My breakfast above was: steel cut oats, raisins, fresh berries, mango, & veggie omelet with KETCHUP.

You may be thinking –Kasey, it’s just ketchup? What’s the big deal?

-Well, for too long I beat myself up over little things like eating ketchup. (I used to deem it an unhealthy food and therefore created a fear against it) which I speak about [here] in my “check yourself before wrecking yourself”.

I challenge myself to work on a healthier relationship with these food rules I used to live by. Life is about finding YOUR balance with moderation & I personally love ketchup on my eggs so why not enjoy some?

In the scheme of things it’s really a little detail but something I am working on to challenge myself! Maybe it’s not ketchup for you, but little foods we used to deem “unhealthy” which can be not so good if we decided to over-do it or drink a whole bottle. BUT, I realized that I was restricting things like a TB of ketchup on my eggs because I put a food rule on it.

I’m learning to enjoy the things I like to enjoy and not over-think it or over-do it. Balance! Not always easy but lets work on finding our balance by empowering each other with each small goal or choice we make

After breakfast, we stopped by Dr. J’s vibrant Café to grab some food to bring along with us for the day of travel.

Brown rice meal with kale & veggies with tofu & garlic.

Side of carrot fries, PURE BREAD, & Carob brownie.

IMG_6027

It was SO amazing to have this after our connecting flight into Denver.

*I switched it into a Tupperware container since the
adorable brown box may have spilled over in my backpack
.

IMG_6006

This PURE BREAD is one of my favorite new finds.

They use the pulp from the veggies they use in juices,
brown rice flour, & flax! Simple & so good.

All in all – the trip was amazing & I am so thankful for all of these new experiences, people I got to meet, & moments I got to enjoy! It was especially great to be spending time with my mom too.

Off to get my to-do list complete & get ready for my trip tomorrow! Enjoy your day!

Red heart Kasey

Have you struggled with “food rules” before?

-I found that I was the one putting these rules onto my self & I’m really working on challenging myself to learn that some things in moderation is totally ok! Find what works for YOU and your own balance & let’s work on not letting these “rules” take up too much of our lives.

Any new food items you’ve discovered lately? I’d love to hear about them!
