Today, The Women’s Sports Foundation shows that girls drop out of sports 2x as fast as boys.

This means that girls are walking away from sports before they even realize their full potential.

Being someone who has grown up in sports, this hits home, as I know we can struggle with body image, confidence, & self-esteem issues that hold us back.

Having a role model to empower you to succeed can make all the difference in life—and in sticking with a sport or activity.

Being considered a role model is humbling and something that I take great pride in.

I feel a sense of responsibility to set a powerful example, show my flaws, & be true to who I am, even when the (social media) world can make you want to not show your true self or put pressure on you to be something you’re not.

My friends at Athleta are empowering all of us to harness the #powerofshe with not only ourselves and others, but especially the youth.

I feel so lucky to be able to train multiple youth girls every single week and empower them to find their full potential. It’s become such a passion of mine.

Sports and physical activity set me up for so many life lessons I’ve learned along the way and a huge reason why I’m so passionate to pass it along to our youth.

I’ve always loved working with kids and knew from a young age that I also loved teaching.

IMG_5384The more I set the example, the more the girls feel comfortable to give it there all.

I started College as an Elementary Education major and changed my major to Health & Physical Education within 5 months of school, knowing that I wanted to focus in on that field.

Even though I didn’t go the teacher route, I do feel that that 4 years of experience set me up for exactly what I do today by teaching through fitness.

From struggling with anxiety and disordered eating (I wrote this blog post 6 years ago now, but still a deep look into my story) from the age of 10, I understand that we can go through a lot in our younger years.

I truly believe having to go through what I’ve been through has made me so passionate to support & guide youth girls.

I’m blessed to have MULTIPLE clients who can be considered “youth” from the ages of 10-21 who trust me on their journeys.

Today I’m going to introduce you to an awesome group of my girls who I train every Saturday morning.

Not only did we get to shoot with the talented @Mikayla_PascoPhotography but I also interviewed each one of my girls so you can get to know them better and see who inspires them and what the #POWEROFSHE means to them.

5.) What does the #POWEROFSHE mean to you?

To me, “the power of she” is the power of women. We all are so strong, and I think that the “power of she” is reminding women all over how strong every single one of them is.

But the power doesn’t always have to be physical, like how much you can lift. It’s about how strong we are on the inside. The “power of she” is girls supporting girls and telling ourselves and each other how awesome and unique we all are.

It’s safe to say that these girls inspire ME to always stay true to myself and let our light shine through.

It’s so rewarding to see what a difference that having a positive experience with fitness can do for their strength, courage, & confidence.

That’s all I’ve ever wanted with my career…to inspire my clients to live their fullest potential and find belief in-themselves that they can make it through all challenges.

IMG_5635

Always remember that these little ears are listening and they are truly sponges.

The energy you give off is the energy they receive.

In a world that can be tough to navigate, it’s awesome that these girls have found such inspiration and dedication through physical activity.
